Dear World,
I have always loved an adventure story.
Books like The Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, and even the well known fairytales invoke in us a sense of adventure. These stories inspire us with the courage to take the right road instead of the easy one, to be brave no matter how scary life’s dragons can be.
Throughout all of history human beings have chosen difficult roads for the sake of a greater good. They have left wives, husbands, children, friends, and all those quiet joys like soft green grass and warm tea and toast because of this noble wish to make the world a better place.
Chesterton writes
The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.
Our sense of home is tethered to our hearts in an irreplaceable way. We never lose it no matter how far we go.
And I believe that our truest sense of home comes from a high country far greater than any place on earth, but until we see that homeland we fight for all that is good, true, and beautiful.
So keep fighting my dear. There will always be plenty of time for tea.
